
The industrial site at the Connewitzer Kreuz was built in 1848 as a gas meter factory. After the end of the GDR and the closure of the plant „VEB Werkstoffprüfmaschinen Leipzig“, the Werk 2 began to be used as a "cultural factory" in 1992. Halle D is one of two concert halls on the site.
